About Me
My name is Aletha Stanley. I have been married for ten years and have four children.
We have lived in Delaware for eight years, after moving here from Tennessee. When
I was twenty-one, I went on a mission for our church for a year and a half, then I went
to the Utah College of Massage Therapy and graduated in December of 1997.
I originally started in that field to help people and change their lives. I practiced
Massage for almost a year until I met my husband and family duties became my focus
in life. I have years of experience teaching and working with children of all ages through
teaching Sunday school and working in a Day Care.
My beginning with ISR started with an email from a friend. In this email there was a link
to a video. I was curious... you never know what your going to get!
From the very beginning I was captivated! It started with a toddler, about the same age
as my own 17-month-old son. He followed a dog out the door and over to the edge of
a pool where he dropped a ball and fell in after it.
My heart dropped! I know a family who lost a child to drowning. When I watched what
this baby did, fully dressed, I was amazed! Tears came to my eyes. What a wonderful
thing to watch!
We have always been nervous around the pool with our children. I took my two oldest
to the YMCA for lessons and a “Mommy and Me” type of thing, hoping it would make
them good swimmers. They taught basic rules and swimming for older children, but
not the survival skills that I wanted for my son and daughter. I wanted what I witnessed
in the video! Especially for infants!
I clicked the link for the Infant Swim Website to find a location and enroll my children.
The closest place was 90 miles away! I could not believe it! Here in Delaware there is
pool after pool and tons of people going to the beach. Why wouldn't there be someone
here who teaches this method?
Whenever I hear of a drowning, I am devastated, especially after knowing that the
ISR lessons could have prevented it. After looking over the site I saw that I had an
opportunity to learn and teach this awesome skill.
In ISR, we are saving lives and changing the lives of those around them. This training
has filled a great purpose in my life. I am excited about this opportunity to make a
difference in the world, one child, one family, at a time.
